Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Safer and More Secure Enviroments for Employees and Customers.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED (pronounced sep-ted) is a crime prevention approach based on a theory that the built environment influences the behavior of people. The proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the incidence and fear of crime, thereby improving your safety, security and quality of life. Proper implementation of CPTED principles create safer and secure locations that are more attractive to your customers and employees while enhancing problem-solving partnerships with local government and community members.

CPTED is recognized as an acceptable component of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or Green Building and provides a holistic approach to the development and planning process. CPTED plays an integral part of our physical security assessment process. If you are looking to build security into a new construction or major remodel and design out crime before it happens, our professionals are also able to provide CPTED reviews of new construction and major remodels. This can be as simple as reviewing the construction documents and providing feedback or we can be your security design partner throughout the design process ensuring that the safety and security of you and your employees are not value engineered out. Design it right from the beginning! If you don’t, retrofitting security after the fact can be very costly.
